Who We Are
Weber Shandwick is more than a leading global PR agency – we’re an engagement agency and we’re working in and around the cutting edge of the new media landscape. We’re storytellers, content creators, and we engage people IN the story. Our success is built on a deep commitment to client service and to our people. We embrace creativity and collaboration, and we engage stakeholders in new and creative ways to build brands and reputations.
Art Director
Weber Shandwick is looking for an Art Director to join our award-winning creative team here in Chicago. Forget what you think you know about PR agencies. We’re a crew of writers, designers, and culture-obsessed makers who are the creative engine for some of the world’s most iconic brands. If you want to make work that gets talked about, this is the place.
We’re searching for someone who lives and breathes culture and creativity. A thinker and a maker who is fluent in the language of the internet, knows what makes an idea catch fire on social, and has the design chops to bring it all to life. You should be a connoisseur of modern communications with a portfolio that shows you know how to make things people want to share.
Our currency is in ‘earned-first’ creativity. That means we hunt for ideas so good they don’t have to be forced into the world—they travel on their own. You’ll be surrounded by some of the brightest minds in the business, tackling fun, provocative challenges for brands that are household names.
WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY DO
- Dream up and execute stunning, earned-first concepts that feel native to platforms like TikTok, Instagram, X, and whatever’s next.
- Bring the energy. We want your passion for solving creative puzzles and your can-do spirit from the first brief to the final export.
- Use your artistic skills across a huge range of projects: branding, storyboards, campaign mockups, presentations, and eye-popping social content.
- Jam with a whole crew of smart, collaborative people across different teams.
- Share your work and your thinking with the team. We’re all here to make each other’s ideas better.
- Master the brand guidelines, but know when and how to creatively push the boundaries.
- Let’s be real: you’ll also need to crank out different versions and resizes of campaign assets. It’s part of the game.
THE SKILLS YOU’LL NEED
- A killer portfolio that shows us how you think, not just what you can execute. We want to see your approach to solving problems.
- 2+ years of art direction or design experience. We’re open to talent from any kind of creative shop: ad agencies, digital shops, content studios, you name it.
- You’re a wizard in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and can build a deck in Keynote or PowerPoint.
- You’re always hungry for what’s new and what’s next in design, tech, and social media.
- Big bonus points for After Effects or other motion graphics skills.

As client business models — and communications methods — adapt to new realities, we’re uniquely suited to bring diverse talents, global insights and pioneering instincts to deliver industry-defining work. We’re going beyond traditional lines to integrate social, digital, advertising, content, PR, corporate reputation and public affairs. So, we need different kinds of people with unique special talents to help us deliver on that promise.
Weber Shandwick is a global company with offices in more than 80 countries, so we offer the advantages of a big firm – from leading-edge research, sophisticated technology and the resources to invest in growth. But, at our heart, we still have the spirit of the small company we used to be – entrepreneurial, ambitious, warm and fun; with a splash of Detroit grit and determination.

Weber Shandwick is looking for an Associate Creative (Design) Director to lead design efforts for our growing creative team across our automotive accounts. This role will require you to have an entrepreneurial mindset to fully define and implement the role of this position and the design team. - A collaborator. You will collaborate closely with various internal and external teams to create new brands, define style guidelines, prep artwork for production and craft beautiful presentations.
- Very (very) hands-on, always perfecting the tiniest details. You don’t just lead by example. You’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and taking on any task.
Responsibilities
- Execute and manage original, persuasive, conceptual and visually compelling design work in line with agency and brand standards, including (but not limited to): iconography, brand guidelines, typography, illustration, digital materials, video materials, organic and paid social media assets, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

- Be a natural teacher – encourage designers to approach problem solving differently, always with the goal of learning and growing
- From concept to execution, bring an enthusiasm for solving design and marketing challenges throughout the life of a project, and amid stakeholder revisions
- Have mastery of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Powerpoint, as well as emerging interactive design trends. Knowledge of AfterEffects and Sketch is a plus
- Build ongoing relationships with partner agency design teams, and other design teams within the Weber Shandwick network

- Serve as a senior strategic lead and trusted advisor across key client relationships, providing counsel on social, digital, and influencer strategy in corporate, public affairs, crisis, and regulated environments.
- Lead integrated, insight-driven strategies across owned social, executive visibility, employee advocacy, creator partnerships, earned amplification, and measurement.
- Guide clients and internal teams through moments where cultural relevance, reputational risk, legal review, and stakeholder expectations all need to be managed at once.
- Build and oversee executive social programs, including LinkedIn strategy, voice development, content planning, governance, and measurement.
- Architect employee advocacy and employee creator programs, including training, guardrails, content systems, approvals, measurement, and risk mitigation.
- Shape influencer and creator strategies for corporate objectives, overseeing identification, vetting, contracting, content development, disclosure, compliance partnership, performance evaluation, and optimization.
- Lead social strategy in crisis and issues environments, partnering with crisis, public affairs, earned, legal, and analytics teams to anticipate risk and support clear decision-making.

- Partner across creative, earned, paid, analytics, public affairs, crisis, and legal/compliance teams to deliver integrated programs with a high standard of execution.
- Act as a senior escalation point, navigating complex client dynamics, aligning multiple stakeholders, and keeping teams moving with confidence.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and growth.
- Support financial management, including scope development, staffing, resource allocation, and delivery against budget.
- Drive organic growth and contribute to new business, pitch strategy, thought leadership, and practice development.
Who You Are:
- 10-12+ years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, social strategy, digital PR, or integrated communications, with agency or in-house leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience providing senior-level counsel to clients or executives in complex, high-stakes, regulated, or similarly nuanced environments.
- Deep understanding of the social and digital ecosystem, with a strong point of view on how platforms, creators, communities, executives, and employees shape corporate reputation.
- Proven ability to lead large, integrated programs across multiple workstreams, disciplines, stakeholders, and approval processes.
- Significant experience with executive social strategy and thought leadership, particularly on LinkedIn.
- Experience designing and operating employee advocacy or employee creator programs, including governance, legal, compliance, training, and measurement.

- Experience collaborating across corporate, public affairs, earned media, creative, paid, analytics, and legal/compliance teams.
- Strong business acumen, including experience with scopes, budgets, resource planning, and organic growth.
