Weber Shandwick seeks a strong leader to champion, advance and accelerate the use of data and bespoke advanced analytics in communications both within Weber Shandwick and for our clients.  

The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience selling or marketing scaled custom analytics solutions to sophisticated marketing, corporate communications and public affairs audiences. They will be curious, organized, methodical, and proactive. They will have deep functional expertise in data and analytics combined with a passion for translating and connecting these insights into solutions.

The position will directly report to the CEO of NA, Weber Shandwick and the Global Head of Analytics + Intelligence and will support all North American analytics teams, leading some of Weber Shandwick’s most complex analytics work.  


Analytics and Team Leadership  

  • Provide hands-on consultancy, collaboration and support to clients and project teams in designing, staffing, and delivering analytics work  
  • Establish transparent and clear communication to drive accountability and ownership across the NA team
  • Develop systems and processes that allow for consistent management and direction to all offices regarding client management, career ladders, and operations
  • Maintain deep knowledge and points-of-view on cutting-edge technologies, tools, platforms, and partners relevant to audience targeting, primary research, media mix modeling, social analytics and other techniques and methodologies that support planning, executing and measuring communications campaigns. 
  • Align with the global vision of A+I forward in NA and set yearly and long term goals for the NA A+I team in terms of revenue, team growth, management success

Engage Client Experience Leads & other practices

  • Work closely with firm, regional, practice and other discipline leaders in identifying opportunities and reducing barriers to advancing the use and sophistication of analytics across all offices  
  • Contribute to business development and growth (both new client and organic growth) through the use of analytics in proposal development, as well as by designing and selling specific analytics solutions to clients  
  • Lead thought-leadership efforts around the use of analytics in communications and marketing, both inside and outside of Weber Shandwick  
  • Work closely with other practices like strategy and communications and establish protocols to strengthen partnership

Contribute to the development of new analytics tools and techniques/methodology  

  • Engage as an active partner in product development work with data science, data engineering and product management organization  
  • Be the voice-of-the-customer as company seeks to break new analytic ground  


Minimum Requirements  

  • 15+ years of related professional experience within an agency, consulting or corporate setting  
  • Talent development experience and skill in building, leading, coaching, and motivating analytics teams 
  • Ability to derive relevant insights from diverse sources of data, both qualitative and quantitative, including published sources, syndicated data, and proprietary data, and then translating those insights into specific media strategies and recommendations 
  • Ability to design research, analyses, and test plans to explore hypotheses such as optimizing communications regarding creative and channel mix

Preferred Requirements  

  • Experience using media/marketing intelligence, social listening or other research tools such as: Talkwalker, Brandwatch, GlobalWebIndex, NewsWhip, Meltwater, Cision, Quid, Affinio, Simmons/MRI and/or Comscore
  • Experience using AdTech (e.g., MediaMath/DV360/Adobe Experience Cloud) and web analytics tools/platforms (e.g., Google/Adobe Analytics, Google Data Studio) 
  • Experience with data visualization tools and approaches (e.g., Tableau, Datorama, Google Data Studio) for reporting and dashboards 
  • Experience using desktop applications and software used for data/statistical analysis, manipulation and visualization including Tableau, Python, R, SAS, SQL, is a plus 
  • Experience using standard office productivity tools, including MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is expected 
  • Hands-on experience in managing data and data mining 
  • Ability to develop frameworks for steering complex insight/analytics projects
