Senior Manager, Client Experience Digital

Detroit, Michigan, United States

Client Experience, Weber Shandwick Detroit – Story Bureau

Pundits say the automotive industry will change more in the next five years than it has in the last 100 years. With the rapid roll out of an-electric future, new technologies and changing customer preferences, right now is one of the most dynamic times to work in our industry. At the same time the auto industry is undergoing wholesale change, so too are the ways consumers discover and engage with brands. Americans are spending nearly 13 hours a day online; platforms and influencers play increasingly important roles and the “circulatory system” of earned media has changed. Online influence, internet culture and the rising “creator economy” have recalibrated us from simple “digital communications” to how to communicate effectively – and earn attention and engagement – in a digital world.

Weber Shandwick Detroit is looking for a talented, detail-oriented candidate who sits at the nexus of our teams: earned media relations, social, creative and production teams. The candidate drives our clients’ major storytelling initiatives, including vehicle reveals, first drives, brand campaigns, documentaries/podcasts/video series, ongoing storytelling and more. This candidate serves as the main point of contact and communication center for clients, internal teams and agency partners for all content/asset needs, starting from the early ideation stages to asset strategy, integration across teams and platforms, asset delivery and more. This is not Project Manager role though some of those skills are necessary. Our clients are in the news business (communications) and last-minute pivots are not uncommon. In short, this person needs to be able to go ask the right questions, be diligent in working on their own to investigate things, not be shy about calling people 100 times until they get the answer they need and understand thoroughly the creative and production process. This last bit is critically important, and we know we’re asking for sun, moon and the stars. Come be our star!

Finally, the candidate is curious. The candidate stays up to date with how competitors are executing content creation/data visualization for major news moments as well as connecting relevant trends and insights in today’s modern content canvas with the work our team produces.

In this role, you will drive the Client Input Brief that includes the information below. You will bring the necessary internal teams (strategy, earned, social, creative, client experience, influencer, etc.) together to brainstorm asset strategy and ideas.

  • The story (what’s the desired headline)
  • Audience(s)
  • Asset needs
  • Content uses (media site, social, influencers, industrial, etc.)
  • Global needs (language translations for territories outside of the U.S.)
  • Influencer/talent integration
  • Budget
  • Asset handoff/live date
  • Delivery of final assets
  • Content rights

The Story Bureau senior manager also works side-by-side with the project manager to:

  • Review project scope, budget and deliverables
  • Kick off internal creative, strategy and/or influencer team(s)
  • Coordinate with social (if applicable)
  • Create asset trackers
  • Review assets and provide feedback internally
  • Manage client expectations, reviews and consolidate client feedback
  • Coordinate with the brand’s media site team for asset handoff
