Junior Associate, Financial Services

Weber Shandwick Hong Kong is looking for a Junior Associate to join their Financial Services practice. A Junior Associate is the entry-level position for PR practitioners, supporting multiple account leaders to efficiently service each client. An understanding of the agency’s business, client accounts, and the industry in which it operates is expected.

Junior Associates perform fundamental PR tasks such as monitoring media coverage, conducting research, supporting events and aiding in the production of media related materials. This position is focused on developing the necessary skillset to become a successful PR practitioner.



  • Manage client supplies, publications and resources materials
  • Work with client on executing campaign tactics
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations (as needed)
  • Prepare client meeting reports


  • Manage and update media databases
  • Manage and update editorial calendars
  • Draft media relations materials
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and familiarity with media pitching
  • Understand clients’ top-tier media and be able to identify trade and business editors and journalists
  • Monitor media outlets for coverage of client news and competitor developments
  • Contribute to programme planning and account management by sourcing quotations, attending brainstorms, and managing purchase orders, as directed by supervisor(s)
  • Conduct research via consumer, trade and/or business media as well as third party data for client-related activity and information, and draw conclusions based on findings
  • Conduct media outreach and follow-up
  • Manage external vendors
  • Research speaking opportunities


  • Draft pitch letters, briefing documents, press kit materials and releases
  • Proof and edit client-related documents as needed
  • Compose basic media plans and contribute to plan development processes as needed

Team Participation

  • Actively participate in agency development and assist with new business
  • Continually communicate with manager
  • Support logistics for the team
  • Monitor team resources including publication subscriptions

Administrative Support

  • Track/enter time with precision and on a day-to-day basis
  • Assist in monthly report preparation
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 0-2 years related professional experience in a PR agency; relevant internship experience preferred
  • Interest in, and awareness of, business and finance
  • Trilingual; with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Able to complete challenging projects within set parameters
  • Demonstrates ownership of tasks and potential to lead projects and interact with clients
  • Exceptional judgment when working with team members, client contacts and vendors
  • Can effectively balance workload across multiple accounts and meet deadlines consistently
  • Positive, with a can-do attitude
  • Proactively keeps seniors informed
  • Attention to detail
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Able to demonstrate passion and commitment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
