Senior Art Director

Job Summary

Weber Shandwick is looking for a Senior Art Director to join our growing creative team in Detroit. In this role, you’ll partner with a copywriter to develop concepts and executions for a variety of integrated campaigns, content of all kinds, product launches and reveals, social media, digital, PR and branding projects. The ability to collaborate with teammates and production partners is fundamental to the role.

If you join our team, you’re not joining a traditional PR agency. Instead, you’ll have the potential to work on campaigns that span social, digital, public relations, broadcast and experiential landscapes. We look for well-rounded creatives who excel at adapting to any platform or medium to tell a great story.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a copywriter partner to develop and execute creative concepts for integrated campaigns, short- and long-form content, social media, product launches, reveals and more
  • Craft designs and stories that spotlight products and technology in contextually and culturally relevant ways
  • Ongoing development of new ideas, creative concepts and design solutions
  • Creation of production-ready designs and layouts
  • Establish the look/tone/feel for campaigns and executions
  • Convey concepts through well-designed idea boards and presentations
  • Confidently present creative work during internal reviews and client meetings
  • Take ownership of your projects from concept to completion
  • Identify opportunities to transform smaller projects into bigger ideas
  • Maintain strong rapport with creative, account, strategy and project managers
  • Ensure all visual campaign components adhere to brand guidelines
  • Translate content ideas into storyboards, shot lists, casting and location specs, wardrobe recommendations, etc.
  • Travel to local and out-of-state shoots to ensure all the visual components are captured
  • Review rough cuts and convey clear, actionable feedback to editors and producers
  • Incorporate feedback from Creative Directors, teammates and clients with precision and a positive attitude

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of art direction and/or design experience in an agency or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in an art or design-related field. Ad School also welcome
  • Proficiency in advertising design and conceptual thinking
  • Ability to work quickly, efficiently and accurately with Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) as well as presentation tools such as PowerPoint
  • Must be self-motivated, hard-working, well-organized and deadline-driven
  • Knowledgable about emerging meida, trends and philosophies in design, technology, social media, storytelling and engagment
  • Experience working in the automotive industry is preferred (not mandatory)
  • Must have a portfolio (may include spec work and unproduced concepts)
  • Bonus skills: UX/UI, animation, photography, retouching, content creation, videography, editorial design
