SVP, Growth & Integration, C-Suite Advisory

We are seeking a dynamic New York-based Growth & Operations lead. This person will support the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer & President, C-Suite Advisory to help stand up the firm’s new C-Suite Advisory.  This person will also work closely with the firm’s Executive Vice President of Geopolitical Strategy & Risk to help build and scale the fast-growing offering. Additionally, this person will collaborate regularly with leaders of Weber Shandwick’s Corporate Affairs and Public Affairs groups, Weber Shandwick Futures and Weber Shandwick’s sister agency, United Minds.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, resourceful, highly organized, diligent, detail-oriented, efficient, and driven. You will need to deeply understand the goals of this team and be able to seamlessly partner with senior leadership to support the growth of the offerings in myriad ways.

Our team:

The Weber Shandwick Corporate Affairs team and C-Suite Advisory focuses on corporate and executive positioning, ESG advisory, risk and resiliency advisory, CEO positioning and advocacy, brand purpose advisory, business/culture transformation, executive advisory data & insights, and Geopolitical Strategy & Risk; and it also collaborates closely with Weber-Shandwick teams and other parts of The Weber Shandwick Collective.  The nature of our work requires an ability and eagerness to juggle multiple responsibilities and work with multi-office teams. You will have the opportunity to play a leading role in the growth and expansion of this team and offering.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Combination of excellent strategic capabilities and strong analytical thinking
  • Strong project management and written business communications skills
  • Strong sense of entrepreneurship and ability to observe trends and emerging issues
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, and develop broad networks in a highly-matrixed organization
  • Strong suite of managerial skills; exceptionally organized
  • Willingness to deal with ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Strong self-motivation, drive and ownership
  • Experience in operations management at a professional services firm is a plus
  • Ability to build and effectively implement operational standards
  • Ability to manage and proactively communicate to anticipate and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience managing more junior team members
  • Strong financial management acumen – contracts, financial processes and infrastructure, revenue forecasting
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and either Smartsheet and/or other project management tools

 

Your Focus:

All the below will be done in partnership with the Practice President, EVP of Geopolitical Strategy & Risk and leadership team.

You will facilitate knowledge and insights management. This may range from helping shape the knowledge and asset development strategy for the Corporate Affairs practice to driving selected knowledge and asset development efforts to curate and disseminate the content.

You will work on initiatives related to: crystalizing new and innovative client offerings and capabilities, building external alliances with advisory and thought-leadership partners, identifying acquisition targets.

You will shape external communication for the Corporate Affairs Practice, C-Suite Advisory and Geopolitical Strategy & Risk offering. This may include shaping the development and execution of the corporate affairs practice agenda, ranging from developing “go-to-market” materials to orchestrating external events to executing the multi-channel communication strategy.

There will be a strong element of providing leadership support and driving internal communications and integration across TWSC. You will act as the thought partner across a wide range of topics and engage with leadership regularly.

You will embrace people leadership and provide coaching for more junior members.

Client Retention and Practice Growth

Help with Practice growth and forward plans, as well as revenue forecasts

  • Oversee improvement and maintenance of new business and marketing materials, including service offerings and capabilities
  • Support the team with thought leadership activity
  • Track active client work, as well as new business pipeline, ensuring that appropriate agency systems are updated in partnership with leadership

Operational/Team Management

  • Work with team to identify, allocate and coordinate resources for key assignments
  • Partner with Executive Admin. and leadership to guide team meeting agendas and coordination of materials
  • Partner with leadership on HR-related administration – from recruiting to onboarding to growth and retention practices
  • Assist with talent requests, recommending possible solutions (based on a deep understanding of needs, skillsets and bandwidth) and helping to facilitate conversations that will lead to strong utilization as well as talent development
  • Support team with knowledge management and overall practices that ensure connectedness and information sharing (e.g., case studies, SharePoint portal updates).

Financial and Contract Management

  • Manage the processes and documentation required for new client assignments, including: Working with team members and finance on building proper SOWs; managing the scope review help desk process, in partnership with Finance team, for client SOWs; working with Legal when needed
  • Manage process of client revenue forecasts and budget updates throughout the year
  • Ensure teams are projecting and communicating future allocations
  • Work with account leaders from other Practices for larger-scale projects and accounts to manage financial tracking
  • Liaise with finance to help leadership monitor and track group performance (e.g., burn against budget), revenue forecasts, and manage future activities accordingly

Client-facing Project Management Support 

  • Work with leads and finance to ensure accurate reporting, scoping and projections
  • Identify and help manage short- and long-term staffing needs.
