External Communications Manager, EMEA

What’s happening?

We are excited to announce we are looking for a (Senior) External Communications Manager to join the London team, reporting into the EVP Marketing and Communications EMEA. This is a new role for someone to lead our external communications activity across the entire region.

You will play a pivotal role in driving reputation and recognition of the Weber Shandwick proposition into the marketplace.  A key contribution will be raising the profile of its key spokespeople and creative work across the EMEA region, helping to celebrate exceptional work. 


What will you be doing?

  • Supporting the Communications strategy across key EMEA markets
  • Focusing on raising the profile of key spokespeople, including the EMEA CEO and country CEOs
  • Deliver the Weber Shandwick narrative in a fresh, innovative way
  • Ensure consistency across social media channels
  • Collaborate with comms leads across EMEA markets, ensuring consistency and best practice
  • Collaborate with EMEA Marketing & new business teams to understand what works in local markets and join up the team for best practice sharing sessions
  • Work with marketing team to effectively leverage marketing assets (e.g. hospitality/events) to ensure strong relationship management
  • Ensure strong and productive relationships with the wider Group, namely IPG, McCann WorldGroup and CMG
  • Maintaining relationships with relevant media contacts
  • Helping to manage a team assistant, supporting across social media and events


Ideal experience required:

  • The ideal candidate will likely have solid integrated experience gained in an agency or in-house communications environment
  • Holds existing relationships with trade, national and business press
  • “Always-on” mindset to act fast and independently when required
  • Comfortable fostering relationships across IPG Group and the prospect landscape
  • Confidence briefing and managing upwards to senior stakeholders
