Account Director – Consumer PR

We are looking for a highly-experienced Account Director to join Weber Shandwick and run two of the agency’s biggest, most exciting consumer brand accounts; you’ll be working with a brilliant team to oversee the running of the accounts, provide counsel and strategic direction, and motivate the team to craft work that truly is their best!
You’ll already work as an Account Director, and have extensive agency experience with a strong grasp of PR, gained in a professional capacity.
Your role will be broad and varied, but with a focus on managing fast-paced, talented teams, as well as overseeing all work delivered for the two well-known brands. You will “own” many of our key client relationships. You'll need to be an excellent project manager with a creative, earned eye, and with a proven track record in delivering best in class, earned-first stories across a range of media types. You’ll have an eye on the big cultural trends of the moment and truly understand the shifting media landscape and the opportunities that exist as a result. You’ll be able to help lead on ideation of big ideas that have earned at their heart, whilst running day to day projects with ease and skill.
And most importantly, you'll have passion and hunger!
What will you be doing?
Working in a tight-knit team, you will be the main client contact on some of our biggest, most important clients. As a senior member of the team, you’ll be managing the team’s performance and outputs, and be the go-to for strategic and client counsel. You’ll be overseeing campaigns, projects and day to day press office activity (ensuring the highest quality of work) whilst pushing boundaries, and thinking outside of the box to deliver best in class earned campaigns.
Day to day
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and improve the company's reputation in terms of delivery and quality.
- Provide strategic counsel to clients where possible, being able to assess problems and define logical and effective solutions for clients.
- Lead the delivery of high quality earned activity, which includes development of media and channel strategies, story development and management of third parties.
- Brief and inform account teams. Communicate expectations/goals to team on an ongoing basis, helping to keep team motivated by communicating clear tasks and actions.
- Work successfully with partner agencies as part of a client integrated agency team, both internally at WS and externally.
- Predict possible problems on the account and be ready to take care of any crises and action appropriately.
- Work effectively with finance colleagues to deliver accurate quotations for all client projects or new business work.
- Write well-structured, persuasive copy and help train others team colleagues to do the same.
- Contribute innovative ideas for client and new business work, inspiring ideation amongst team members.

- Proven project management skills, leading multiple teams, as well as interagency, to deliver work that is on brief, on time, and on budget.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to ensure profitability, avoiding over-servicing.
- Strong social and digital acumen – highly competent at developing and executing influencer programs, social listening and wider digital and social strategies.
- Excellent project management skills with strong organisational and planning skills
- First-rate written, verbal and presentation skills; accomplished at delivering successfull pitches.
- Curious with a drive to deliver new and premier work for the agency and client.
- A little black book of contacts built up from over the years in industry
- A good, collaborative team leader with experience of managing teams and individuals
