Weber Shandwick Partners with First Concordia Americas Summit in Bogota
Concordia, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that enables public-private partnerships to create a more prosperous and sustainable future, held its first Concordia Americas Summit in Bogotá this week.
Weber Shandwick was proud to support the summit as a partner, continuing the firm’s engagement with the organization following its annual Summit in New York City in 2016. The Bogotá summit agenda focused on three core conversations: regional corruption, the implementation of the recently approved peace deal, and a roadmap to achieving the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.
Jack Leslie, Weber Shandwick chairman, served as a conversation lead in the session “Path to Peace: The American Role in a Comprehensive Resolution to Conflict in Colombia.” The dialogue united leaders from across the political spectrum in both Colombia and the U.S. to analyze how changes in American foreign policy will impact the implementation of the recently approved Colombian peace deal. Session participants addressed challenges related to the deal, identifying the legal, economic, institutional, political, social, and international considerations and reforms necessary for successful implementation.
Key Concordia Americas Summit participants also included recent Nobel Peace Prize recipient Juan Manuel Santos, President of Colombia, Juan Carlos Pinzón, Ambassador of Colombia to the United States of America, and Alfonso Gómez Palacio, President, Telefónica Colombia.
