Weber Shandwick Named Strategic Communications Agency of Record for Colorado Education Association

DENVER – November 19, 2015 – Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s leading global communications and engagement firms, has been selected as the strategic communications agency of record for the Colorado Education Association (CEA). The CEA has 37,000 members in more than 200 local associations promoting quality public education for students and strengthening the profession for public education employees across the state.

The Colorado Education Association account will be supported by Weber Shandwick’s growing Denver office, which will work to expand awareness of and support for CEA’s advocacy for quality public education through traditional media relations and digital storytelling. Weber Shandwick was awarded the business based on the agency’s deep experience in the education sector, strategic and creative thinking, as well its strong presence in Colorado and broad national network.

“We were looking for an agency with the right experience and insights to engage with our stakeholders and to increase understanding and support for CEA’s mission,” said Brad Bartels, the Association’s executive director. “Weber Shandwick offers the perfect balance of local insights and extensive experience in strategic thinking and creative storytelling for iconic brands and global campaigns.”

CEA is a state affiliate of the National Education Association (NEA), America’s oldest and largest organization dedicated to advancing the cause of public education. Founded in 1875, CEA works collectively to provide the best public education for every student. CEA has led statewide advocacy efforts in recent years to restore adequate funding to Colorado public schools and to emphasize time for teaching and learning in the classroom above excessive standardized testing.

“We look forward to working alongside CEA members and continuing their mission of promoting quality public education in Colorado,” said Hugh Williams, senior vice president at Weber Shandwick. “We are eager to jump in and help share the stories of CEA members helping every student thrive.”
