Peter Matheson Gay Joins Weber Shandwick as Creative Director for Healthcare in North America and National Practice Leader for Healthcare in Canada 

TORONTO, October 17, 2011 – Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s leading global public relations firms, today announced that global healthcare expert Peter Matheson Gay has joined the agency as Creative Director for Healthcare in North America and National Practice Leader for Healthcare in Canada.

Matheson Gay will be responsible for developing creative platforms and innovative approaches for North American healthcare clients and overseeing the strategic vision, direction and execution of the Canadian healthcare offering. Matheson Gay will report to Laura Schoen, president of the agency’s Global Healthcare Practice and Greg Power, president of Weber Shandwick Canada.

 

Matheson Gay returns to Canada from New York where he was responsible for senior leadership and client counsel at Cohn & Wolfe for global pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other healthcare clients. In addition to his leadership role in new business development, Matheson Gay was responsible for overseeing cutting-edge global programming, including international, regional and multi-lingual campaigns. Matheson Gay also worked out of the firm’s London office where he provided strategic counsel to a number of international and pan-European clients. Prior to taking on a global leadership role in New York, Matheson Gay worked for several Canadian agencies including Hill & Knowlton, PraxisPR and Veritas Communications.

Peter adds strong depth to our exceptional team of healthcare experts and will be a key contributor to our leadership position in the development and implementation of big creative ideas for our North American and global healthcare clients.

Matheson Gay has been responsible for developing and executing a wide variety of domestic and global healthcare communications programming, including new product launches, issues and crisis management, pipeline communications, reimbursement and policy efforts, corporate communications, digital and social media programming, stakeholder and advocacy relations and much more. His therapeutic experience is diverse and includes infectious disease, oncology, multiple sclerosis, CNS, cardiovascular, diabetes, obesity, pediatric, medical devices, women’s/men’s health and more.
