Rob Baskin manages the Atlanta office of Weber Shandwick, where he directs a team of consumer, corporate, B2B, foodservice and public affairs specialists. His communications career is equally divided between agency and client side.

Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, he had a 15-year tenure at The Coca-Cola Company where he was director of corporate communications, director of international media relations, director of U.S. public relations, and director of marketing communications.

Baskin specializes in corporate and issues management, reputation management, crisis communications, and corporate communications, media relations, media training, proxy fights, Board governance and providing communications strategy and support for client litigation, including class action lawsuits and labor disputes. 

Baskin has counseled the CEOs of the Home Depot, The Coca-Cola Company, Equifax, Spectrum Brands, United Way, Emory University, Builders Insurance Group, Northside Hospital, Old Dominion Freight Line, the Atlanta Police Department, the CDC Foundation, Delhaize America, the Atlanta Public Schools,  AFLAC, Carter’s, Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores, and the Southern Museum.

His crisis and issues communications work encompasses employee class action lawsuits; product contamination, tampering, and recalls; investigations by the EEOC, FDA and SEC; racial, gender and sexual orientation discrimination allegations; environmental issues; mergers & acquisitions; community relations; public affairs; and CEO transitions/leadership succession.

His public relations experience for logistics providers includes UPS Supply Chain Logistics (2002-2009), Old Dominion Freight Line business (2010-present) and Coca-Cola Refreshment’s B2B foodservice (2010-2013).

From 2003-2010 Baskin managed the Home Depot’s corporate public relations agency team in the U.S. Mexico, Canada and China dealing with community affairs, labor relations, corporate social responsibility programs, corporate media relations and CEO transitions.

His public relations work includes both client and agency-side management of more than 25 product or service introductions for Coca-Cola, UPS, Philips Electronics, Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, Ciba Vision, Hasbro, Old Dominion Freight Line and General Motors.

In addition,  Baskin led Coca-Cola’s public relations strategy and PR activation for nine Olympic Games (1984-2002), as well as Coke’s other major sports sponsorships, including FIFA World Cup, NFL, NBA, NHL and NCAA.

Baskin earned a BA in political science and an MA in journalism from The Ohio State University. He serves on the Boards of the Atlanta Police Foundation, the Georgia Council on Economic Education and the Georgia Center for Nonprofits.
