Weber Shandwick Promotes Ho-Nikolovski and Cunico to Co-Managing Director Roles in Singapore
SINGAPORE, 12 AUGUST 2011 – Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s leading global public relations firms, today announced that Vanessa Ho-Nikolovski and Margaret Cunico have been promoted to co-managing directors and will jointly manage the firm’s Singapore hub. The move allows current managing director Baxter Jolly to take on added responsibilities in his broader role as vice chairman, Asia Pacific.
Weber Shandwick’s Singapore office is one of the largest in the firm’s Asia Pacific network, and is one of the largest public relations firms in Singapore. Over the past several years, staff strength at the Singapore office has grown by more than three times and the client portfolio has increased multifold.
Ho-Nikolovski has been with Weber Shandwick for more than 10 years, during which time she has spearheaded the program for one of the agency’s leading clients in Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, managing its strategic corporate communications, brand building and reputation management efforts across 24 markets. Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, she worked as a public relations practitioner in New York and Hong Kong. She started her career as a journalist with The Straits Times after graduating from the National University of Singapore with a double major in English Language and English Literature.
Cunico also started her career as a journalist with the SPH Group, working across its newspaper and magazine titles. She then joined the public relations industry with agency and in-house stints, before joining Weber Shandwick. Cunico, who has headed the Consumer & Entertainment Practice, works directly with a number of the firm’s clients in the hospitality, retail, aviation and education sectors, among others.
“We are extremely pleased that Margaret and Vanessa are taking on the co-MD roles, which is a natural transition from the way they have been supporting the company’s growth alongside Baxter Jolly,” said Tim Sutton, chairman, Asia Pacific, Weber Shandwick. “Both are respected industry veterans and have played a key role in supporting our regional and global network as well as establishing a strong ethos among the 70 plus strong staff in the Singapore office.
“They take over the reins at a time when the firm is recognized as an industry leader, enjoys a sterling portfolio of home-grown and multinational clients and has in place a strong team of senior managers and consulting staff with diverse experience and expertise.”
The Singapore office has been honored with multiple local and global awards in recent years. The agency was awarded Outstanding Overall PR Consultancy of the Year at the PRISM Awards 2010. It was also recognized by the International Business Awards (Stevie Award) as the Best Consultancy in the World in 2008.
