Weber Shandwick Engages Mexico at Launch Event

On Tuesday, August 25th, Weber Shandwick leaders from around the world joined clients and guests in Mexico City, Mexico for an opening event celebrating the firm’s newest presence in the Latin America region. CEO Andy Polansky, Latin America chair and Global Healthcare president Laura Schoen, and Mexico managing director Amanda Berenstein led a conversation about the vibrancy of the market for domestic and multinational companies alike.

During the event, we revealed new findings from our global research, “The CEO Reputation Premium: Gaining Advantage in the Engagement Era,” detailing the importance of CEO reputation among executives in Mexico.

Weber Shandwick’s Chief Reputation Strategist, Dr. Leslie Gaines-Ross, presented findings from the research and shared insights on building CEO capital in the new engagement era.  She revealed that executives in Mexico attribute 59% of their company’s reputation and 56% of their market value to the reputation of their CEO, on average. The study also found that 78% of executives in Mexico agree that external CEO engagement is now a mandate for building company reputation. Juan E. Pardinas, director of the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO), also participated in the event to share his perspectives on the new findings.

Lauren Melcher, firebell global product manager and senior digital manager at Weber Shandwick, also engaged guests in a firebell social media crisis drill. Firebell is Weber Shandwick’s proprietary platform and approach to integrated crisis training. It simulates real-time conversations in online media environments, and was an industry first when Weber Shandwick built the first version in 2010.

Weber Shandwick Mexico City opened its doors in May in partnership with McCann Worldgroup. Weber Shandwick’s growing network across Latin America also includes three offices in Brazil and affiliates in Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru.
