Garland Harwood and Carmen Lawrence Named to PRWeek’s 2013 “40 Under 40” List

PRWeek announced today that Weber Shandwick’s Garland Harwood and The Axis Agency’s Carmen Lawrence were named to the publication’s “40 Under 40 2013: The new trailblazers” list. As senior vice president of Weber Shandwick’s Global Technology Practice, Harwood counsels top consumer technology and digital entertainment brands. Lawrence, executive vice president and general manager of The Axis Agency, leads the development of brand strategy and multicultural marketing for clients in the U.S. Hispanic market. 

In developing the list, PRWeek’s editorial team looked “across agencies, corporations, and nonprofits to profile 40 professionals under the age of 40 who demonstrate innovative thinking, strong determination, and results that indicate a long and successful career in the PR industry.” Harwood and Lawrence were both nominated by their peers as individuals “leading the charge for the next generation of communicators.”

Harwood is a leader in Weber Shandwick’s North American technology practice, overseeing public relations strategy and program development for top industry clients. He is an expert in ecommerce, earned and paid media strategies, the technology industry and client service. Harwood is recognized for his ability to drive global collaboration across practices and geographies, contributing to new business efforts, sharing best practices on consumer technology and educating colleagues about the changing nature of product reviews.

Lawrence played a key role in the launch and founding of The Axis Agency, and she has since been instrumental in establishing the firm as a leading center of multicultural marketing expertise. She is the key driver of the firm’s growth in the Hispanic marketing arena and an industry leader in defining the importance of the U.S. Hispanic market to some of the country’s most iconic brands. Lawrence is a longtime member of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies and the Hispanic Public Relations Association.
