Changi Airport Group Appoints Weber Shandwick Agency of Record
SINGAPORE, 25 August 2011– Weber Shandwick today announced it has been appointed as the public relations agency of record for Changi Airport Group (CAG), operator of Singapore’s award-winning Changi Airport. The appointment, which concludes a competitive tender, sees Weber Shandwick selected on a two-year contract from 1 August 2011.
CAG manages all commercial and operational activities at Changi Airport, which, over its 30-year history, has become the world’s most awarded airport. CAG has appointed Weber Shandwick to help promote the airport globally as Asia’s leading aviation and retail hub, and to support the airport’s crisis communications plans. The firm will also contribute to special events and projects and provide strategic counsel for the program.
“The aviation industry is facing challenges from a variety of sources, and is diversifying geographically as well as commercially in order to develop new businesses and grow. We are being tasked with creating innovative communications ideas to help CAG reach new audiences effectively,” said Baxter Jolly, vice-chairman Asia-Pacific, Weber Shandwick.
Formed in June 2009, CAG manages all four terminals of Singapore’s Changi Airport, undertaking key functions focusing on airport operations and management, air hub development, commercial activities and airport emergency services. Through its subsidiary Changi Airports International, the Group invests in and manages foreign airports to spread the success of Changi Airport around the world.
