Are women the key to social media?
Females deserve especially close attention from marketers. A recent report from the Pew Research Center found that the percentage of female Internet users who use social networking sites well surpasses that of men (75% vs. 63%, respectively.) In response to these findings, Weber Shandwick partnered with KRC Research to conduct Digital Women Influencers, an online survey of 2,000 North American women, as a means to identify segments of women who are influential in social media and to provide new insights on the female online market. Marcy Massura, director of digital engagement at Weber Shandwick, said the purpose of the study was to find what these women influence, who they influence and how they influence their circles.
