Advertiser Response to The O’Reilly Factor

After The New York Times released an investigative report on alleged sexual harassment by now former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, over 90 companies announced that they would stop advertising on his show The O’Reilly Factor. 

Weber Shandwick continuously monitors how companies communicate and are held accountable to their corporate values. We analyzed the responses from 94 companies that pulled their advertising from The O’Reilly Factor and found that 53% of companies did not reference the allegations against Bill O’Reilly in their statements, 35% explained why they were stopping ads in context of their company values, 52% of companies made statements on Twitter and 54% of companies replied to an activist.
