Takeo Nishitani has been acknowledged as one of Japan’s most articulate communications “bridges”, and has served as a link between foreign companies and government agencies to Japan for more than thirty years. He provides strategic counsel to its major clients in utilities, healthcare, manufacturing, financial and consumer/entertainment organizations.
His broad experience includes consulting to multinational companies MNCs’ international strategies, foreign firms’ partnerships with Japanese companies, media relations, industrial relations, international trade issues and government affairs, and crisis management planning and execution.
He was heavily involved in the creation and organization of several bilateral economic forums including the Hong Kong Japan Business Cooperation Committee, the U.S. Japan Economic Forum, and the Asia Pacific Intellectual Community.
Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Mr. Nishitani worked in the Netherlands promoting Japanese inward direct investment and tourism for the Amsterdam Promotion Foundation. He has also had postings in Saudi Arabia for Weber Shandwick Japan to help Japanese MNCs develop their position in such new markets.
He graduated from Sophia University with a B.A. in Literature. He is the author of travel-guide books for the Benelux countries and Greece. He supervised the Japanese edition of “Corporate Reputation”, authored by Dr. Leslie-Gaines Ross.
He is the auditor and member of the board of Public Relations Society of Japan. Also, he is a member of the Japan Society for Corporate Communications Studies, Japan National Press Club, Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan, Japan Travel Writers’ Association and several other trade and friendship associations.
