David, a 20-year veteran with Weber Shandwick, serves as Executive Vice President and Acting General Manager of the Southwest region. Known for his team leadership skills and results-orientation, he specializes in managing global assignments and multi-disciplinary communications programs.
David has deep experience in the enterprise software, IT and business services, telecom/wireless, semiconductor, security and travel/transportation industries. He also serves as the one firm’s top media trainers and crisis communications counselors.
David has served as a senior communications consultant to a wide variety of blue-chip technology companies and startups, including BEA Systems, Data Return, Entrust, Freescale Semiconductor, Handango, Hitachi Consulting, i2 Technologies, Kinko’s, LifeSize, Microsoft, Motorola, NetIQ, Sabre, Sprint, Terremark, Texas Instruments, Unisys, Verisign, Verizon, and the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Forum.
Most recently, David has led Verisign through a major corporate transformation that included re-positioning the company around its core business in Internet infrastructure services. In 15 countries around the world, David directed programs that included acquisition and divestiture communications; management changes and executive visibility programs; crisis, financial and issues communications; industry thought leadership campaigns; product PR; strategic media relations; industry analyst relations; social media; speakers bureau; and executive coaching/media training. The media, Wall Street and industry analysts lauded Verisign’s transformation and focus, with Fortune naming Verisign as one of its “Most Admired Companies.”
David has received numerous PR industry awards for client campaigns, including awards from SABRE, CIPRA, IPRA, IABC and TPRA. He received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University with a major in public relations. David is a past speaker on crisis communications at public relations industry forums.
