MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, Minn. – October 1, 2008 – Weber Shandwick today announced the addition of Jennylee Haines as senior vice president in its healthcare practice. Haines will work to oversee and further develop the agency’s growing medical device business sector. Haines has relocated to Minneapolis-St. Paul from Cincinnati and reports to executive vice president Nancy Longley.
Haines spent more than 15 years in the healthcare marketing and communications industry, including more than 10 years in the medical device space. She has worked with and on behalf of leading medical device manufacturers including Ethicon Endo-Surgery, J&J Medical and Gynecare (both now part of Ethicon, Inc), Guidant and Medtronic. Haines’ experience encompasses cardiovascular, women’s health, urology, surgery and bariatrics.
“Medical device technology continues to evolve, and their use in complex medical treatments becomes more mainstream, creating communication needs,” said Nancy Longley, executive vice president, healthcare practice at Weber Shandwick. “We are thrilled that Jennylee joins us to provide senior leadership and a wealth of experience and strategic capabilities to our medical device clients.”
In addition to her medical device expertise, Haines also brings experience in consumer health, patient safety communications, brand communications and numerous hospital and outpatient center public relations initiatives. She has also worked with the National Speaking of Women’s Health Foundation since its inception. Her involvement includes national health initiatives with the organizations’ sponsors including Wal-Mart, Kellogg’s, Pfizer, L’Oreal and Lifetime Television.
“As the medical device industry as a whole continues to mature, we’re discovering that sustained growth requires integration of effective communication strategies into corporate brand and product marketing efforts,” notes Haines. “Companies who embrace public relations as part of their overall long-term strategies are realizing the benefits in terms of overall brand awareness and recognition, improved physician relations, increased impact of marketing efforts, sales force buy-in and effectiveness and, ultimately, increased sales and revenue.”
