Barcelona's La Salle University Centre Appoints Weber Shandwick Brussels To Raise Its Profile

BRUSSELS 11 February 2008 – Weber Shandwick Brussels was today appointed by La Salle university centre in Barcelona to provide public relations and public affairs communications support services across Europe to its Business Engineering School.

The appointment of Weber Shandwick reflects the School’s determination to be more visible to business leaders, prospective students and stakeholders across Europe. The Brussels-based agency will manage the School’s media relations in four key markets, namely Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Weber Shandwick Brussels will also be responsible for raising the profile of the School with EU policymakers in the Brussels arena as a key partner in the Lisbon Strategy.

“Our successes have time and again demonstrated that Weber Shandwick Brussels is the natural choice for both Public Affairs consultancy and driving multi-country communications campaigns”, said Josep Catllà, CEO of Weber Shandwick Brussels. “We are thrilled to bring our combined expertise in these fields to the service of such a forward-thinking and dynamic client as the La Salle Business Engineering School”, he said.

The Business Engineering School is an innovator in the field of third level education in Europe and places great emphasis on understanding how new technologies can be harnessed to the service of management excellence. Modelled on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Business Engineering School aims at becoming a reference institution for executive education internationally: the School not only aims to attract a multinational student base but will also offer students multi-site executive programmes in international locations. Technological innovation and business support remain key themes in the School’s educational programme, which gives its students the edge they require in growing their careers or creating their own business ventures.

This win is a first in executive education for Weber Shandwick Brussels, but adds to the already long list of successful pan-European campaigns that Weber Shandwick Brussels has delivered for some of the most recognisable names in the corporate world, from UPS and General Motors, for example, to Sabre-award-winning campaigns for Goodyear and Opel.

“I worked with Weber Shandwick Brussels when I was with Epson Europe”, said Ramón Ollé, Executive President of La Salle Business Engineering School. “The profound understanding of our needs and the professionalism and expertise they demonstrated then meant I had no hesitation in returning to them for assistance in promoting our School”, he said.
